CSA Group completed the installation of the FTD King Air 350 level 5 at the Military Air Transport Command (CATAM). This advanced flight training device, manufactured by the Spanish company ENTROL, will allow the Colombian Air Force to improve the training processes of the King Air 350 aircraft crews.
For this project, CSA also carried out the adaptation of the spaces that will be used for the training of the crews.

In this way, CSA Group is positioned as one of the main suppliers of aeronautical solutions for the Colombian Air Force.

Today, the “Marco Fidel Suárez” COLAF´s Military Aviation School celebrates with great pride the first thousand (1,000) hours of flight instruction and crews training, registered at the Operational Excellence Center(CEO), a space with the latest technology and that has become an ally for the interaction and training of future military pilots.

The implementation of the CEO that started with the acquisition of the two Advanced Aviation Training Devices AATD Redbird MCX by the Colombian Air Force in 2019 and two flight simulators for the T-41D Mescalero and T-90 Calima equipment, has improved the operational safety standards, as well as streamlining the flight instruction and training learning process for future Colombian aviators and aircrew personnel from the Colombian Air Force aircraft crews.

The experience of simulating how to fly an aircraft in the most accurate and realistic way for the crews has been very significant, since they have had the opportunity to interact with aircraft equipped with modern computerized systems that put them in everyday situations that require decision-making, action with autonomy, emotional management, mental speed and skills to maneuver and control the aircraft efficiently.

During these 194 days of operation in the CEO, 1,000 hours of effective training have been registered and 212 people trained with the highest quality standards of the Colombian Air Force, distributed in 7 groups as follows: T-41 Mescalero and T-90 Squadrons Calima, Instructors, C-212, Psychologists, among others.

The offer of courses developed at the CEO for flight personnel were in accordance with the needs brought about by the application of innovation, among them: Advanced IFR Flight Review, IFR Flight Instructor, Standardized IFR Pilot, Basic IFR Flight Review, IFR Flight Procedures supervision and training program for T-41 and T-90 pilots, IFR flight procedures supervision and training program, GIFT training (Guided Independent Flight Training)

The impact that the implementation of this didactic tool has had on the Colombian Aviation community has been of great help, since it minimizes the risks in the field of action, saving money in the consumption of the aircraft start-up, the training is done with the latest technology, it has qualified personnel in charge of the instruction and finally places the Military Aviation School among the best institutions of the Colombian State

The most important air combat training exercise in the world Red Flag 19-2 ended at the Nellis Air Base in Nevada, United States, where the Colombian Air Force participated for the third time together with 21 squadrons from nine countries, with the objective of strengthen capacities and procedures, as well as acquire new skills for interoperability.

With the KC-767 tanker aircraft, the Colombian Air Force carried out seven missions: three daytime and four nighttime, refueling the US Navy’s F-18 “Growler” aircraft. “We know that if at any time we come across the call sign” Jupiter “, that will be a safe and very professional ally to interoperate if necessary,” said Colonel Chris Nasset, Commander of the “Growler” Squad at Red Flag 19-2.

Likewise, it was confirmed that it is not inferior to any challenge, since after its important participation in Red Flag in July 2018, it was summoned again and in less than a year, it arrived at the Nellis air base ready to interoperate, something that very few countries have achieved in that same period of time.

Similarly, for the first time the FAC tanker squad was leader of the refueling component of the blue air force, as the coalition of allied countries in Red Flag is called, In which the aircraft KC-135 of the United States Air Force and KDC-10 of the Netherlands Air Force also participated.

Thanks to efficient operational and service logistical support, the KC 767 FAC 1202 tanker and 25 people, including officers and NCOs, traveled to the United States to represent the country, being safe and effective in an environment of cultural and operational diversity. but under the same rule: NATO standards.

“We fly, train and fight to win!” … This is how this exercise ended, with which new experiences were acquired, translated into the confidence of knowing that the Colombian Air Force has a real, visible, credible, sustainable and permanent role for the defense of the nation and hemispheric security.
